Emily Anne Bowman is an active performer and educator. Ms. Bowman is a founding member and principal violist of the Baroque Chamber Orchestra of Colorado and has performed as guest artist with Montana Early Music Festival, Wyoming Baroque, Parish House Baroque, Seicento Baroque Ensemble, Baroque Out of Bounds, and the Early Music Happy Hour Chamber Concert series. Emily especially enjoys working with young musicians as Artistic Director of the Greater Boulder Youth Orchestra and conductor of the GBYO Philharmonic, as faculty with Boulder Suzuki Strings and formerly as Music Director at Shining Mountain Waldorf School. Emily has been recognized with the "Exemplary Teacher" award four times by the American Strings Teachers Association of Colorado. Emily graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Viola Performance from the University of Colorado, receiving the Gabor Ormai Viola Award. She lives with her husband David Crowe in beautiful Boulder, Colorado where in addition to making music she delights in eating and spending time outdoors.

Symphony Conductor
Gary Lewis, Chair of Conducting Studies and Director of Orchestral Studies at CU Boulder, played an important role in the creation of the Greater Boulder Youth Orchestras in 2010 and was the founding Artistic Director.
A highly sought after educator and clinician, Mr. Lewis has conducted many All-State Orchestras, the Honor Orchestra of America and the American String Teachers Association National High School Honor Orchestra. In addition to his work at CU, he is the Music Director of the Midland Odessa (TX) Symphony Orchestra, and Principal Guest Conductor of the Boulder Philharmonic. Mr. Lewis values new music, having collaborated with composers Carter Pann, George Crumb, William Bolcom, John Harbison, Michael Daugherty, and many others.

Wind Ensemble Conductor
Dr. Erik Johnson is an Associate Professor of Music Education and Coordinator of Music Education at Colorado State University where he is the director of the CSU Middle School Outreach Ensemble program and conducts the 130 member CSU Concert Band. As a music educator, Erik’s goals are to cultivate a sincere passion for artistry and music learning for students at all levels. Erik is a CSU Distinction in Community Outreach Award winner and a GRAMMY Scientific Research Award winner - an award that is accompanied by a grant that supports research into how peer-assisted learning in music can help to improve social responsiveness for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Sinfonia Conductor
Paul Rowinski has been teaching violin using the Suzuki Method in Boulder, Colorado since 1983. He graduated from the University of Colorado with a degree in music, studying violin performance and pedagogy with William Starr. He is the director of the Woodsong Suzuki Violin Instruction program in Boulder, and performs locally in various community orchestras.

Chamber Music Director
Matthew Dane serves as Principal Violist of both the River Oaks Chamber Orchestra (ROCO) in Houston and Opera Colorado. Dane has appeared as soloist with the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, the Baroque Chamber Orchestra of Colorado, ROCO, Ars Nova Singers, and the St. Martin's Chamber Choir among others; his chamber performances have been broadcast on NPR's Performance Today and BBC's Channel 3. A committed teacher, he has served on the faculty of the University of Colorado, and was tenured at the University of Oklahoma; he now coaches chamber music at Greenwood Music Camp in the summers and actively maintains a private studio in Boulder.

Johanna Campos is a dedicated violinist and educator with a wealth of experience spanning over two decades. She holds a Master of Music in Suzuki Pedagogy from the Lamont School of Music in Denver, Colorado, and has earned degrees in Violin Performance from EAFIT University in Medellín, Colombia, and Conservatori LICEU in Barcelona, Spain.
Throughout her career, Johanna has demonstrated a passion for teaching, specializing in both individual and group instruction across diverse educational environments. Her expertise extends from youth orchestras and music-focused schools to university conservatories and private lessons. Known for her adaptive teaching strategies and interpersonal skills, she fosters enriching learning experiences tailored to each student's needs.
Beyond her teaching commitments, Johanna has performed extensively as a violinist with several symphony orchestras. Her multifaceted career underscores a commitment to excellence in both education and performance, reflecting her dedication to advancing music education and nurturing the next generation of musicians.

Madeleine Hartley is originally from Las Cruces, NM and currently serves as the Director of Bands at Sunset Middle School in Longmont, CO. She began her music teaching career at the University of Colorado Boulder, where she earned her Bachelor of Music Education Degree. After graduating, Madeleine served as the Instrumental Music Teacher at Clear Creek Middle & High School (Evergreen, CO) and guided all aspects of the program. During her time at Clear Creek, Madeleine gained experience teaching concert band, pep band, jazz band, piano, guitar, music technology, and conducting the school musical. Madeleine also served as the assistant conductor of community ensembles, including the Original Cow Boy Band and the Golden Eagle Concert Band. She later earned her Master's Degree in Music from Colorado State University. While attending CSU, Madeleine served as a graduate teaching assistant and assisted several undergraduate music education courses, instructed the Woodwind Techniques course, and served as the Associate Director of the Middle School Outreach Ensemble program (MSOE) at CSU. She was also a member of Dr. Rebecca Phillips’s graduate conducting studio and conducted the CSU Concert Band and Symphonic Band. Madeleine has received several awards for her teaching and scholarship, including the College of Liberal Arts Highest Achievement in Scholarship & Research Award for her presentation at the CSU Graduate Student Showcase and the CSU College of Liberal Arts Award for Excellence in Teaching. Her current position at Sunset Middle School has given her experience working with beginner musicians and furthered her skills as a pedagogue of young students. As a clarinetist, Madeleine has experience performing with large ensembles, in chamber groups, and as a soloist in the U.S. and Europe. Most notably, she has performed as a part of the Interharmony International Music Festival in Acqui Terme, Italy, and the World Youth Wind Orchestra Project in Schladming, Austria. Currently, she enjoys keeping a busy teaching schedule and continuing her musical performance career as the Assistant Conductor of the Longmont Concert Band and a member of the B-Flatirons Clarinet Quartet. When Madeleine isn't teaching, she enjoys hiking, yoga, reading, spending time with her husband, Alex, and snuggling with their two cats, Sophie and Kit.

Violinist Dr. Yenlik Weiss is a dedicated chamber musician, orchestra performer, and teacher. She has been a featured soloist for the Steamboat Springs Chamber Orchestra, Aurora Symphony, on Colorado Public Radio, and performed numerous chamber solos in the US, Europe, and Asia. She is a member of the Boulder Philharmonic. She has performed with Sir Elton John, Sarah McLachlan, and Earth Wind & Fire among other contemporary performers, and performed at the Walt Disney Concert Hall.

Laena Batchelder is a violinist, musician, and social justice advocate. Following her mission to support diversity, equity, and inclusion in classical music, she has programmed works by female, minority, contemporary, and non-traditional composers in her recitals including her honors project recital, Women of American Chamber Music. She believes in combining classical and popular music to appeal to wider audiences which she has implemented in her performances and in her teaching.

Boulder local Peter Kennedy teaches violin and viola lessons to people of all ages. He believes that every student has meaningful goals in their musical journey, and he works with each individual to discover what drives their passion for music. In addition to teaching, he performs regularly as a violinist and violist for orchestras, weddings, and other events, and loves to write music and compose. When he isn’t making music, Peter can be found running, hiking, skiing, biking, unicycling, reading, thinking about math, or playing dungeons and dragons.

Becky Donoho has been involved in music from an early age, starting out with private violin lessons then later joining an elementary strings program. As more time passed, she played in other ensembles including Redlands Youth Symphony (RYS), county Honors orchestras, and the MountainTop Strings of California (MTSC), based in her hometown of Big Bear, California. With MTSC, she was able to participate in many ensemble competitions and festivals as well as go on two concert tours through Italy. She traveled to many places throughout Italy, including Lucca, Lake Como, and Florence. Becky even had the privilege of performing at the Pantheon in Rome as the concertmaster of MTSC. In both 2017 and 2018, she had the honor of playing with the Piano Guys. In addition to being an avid performer, Becky has also been a counselor and section coach for multiple music camps, including the Summer Music Academy (SMA) and Middle School Ensemble (MSE), both of which are programs through CU Boulder.
Becky currently studies under the tutelage of Erika Eckert at CU Boulder pursuing a degree in music education with an instrumental emphasis. Before she switched to playing the viola, Becky spent her high school years studying violin with Dr. Alex Russell at Azusa Pacific University.

Erik Okel is pursuing a master’s degree in cello performance at the University of Colorado Boulder and is a recipient of the Chamber Takacs Society-MU Scholarship. His performance interests include the symphonic repertoire and early music, as well as creating arrangements of his favorite popular music. In his free time Erik enjoys cooking, reading bad science-fiction books, and obsessively watching his favorite shows for the hundredth time.

John St. Cyr (he/him) is a double bassist, freelance performer, and educator. John has performed with the Colorado Springs Philharmonic, Boulder Symphony, Illinois Symphony, Champaign-Urbana Symphony, Millikin-Decatur Symphony, Heartland Festival Orchestra, Collaborative Piano Summer Institute, and the MIOpera summer opera institute. John is also the founder and artistic director of the Red Bird Bass Ensemble, an ensemble of middle and high school bass students who give pop up performances in central Illinois. John holds Master’s degrees from Louisiana State University and Illinois State University, and is currently a Doctoral candidate in Double Bass performance at CU Boulder. When not practicing or performing, John loves vegan cooking and hikes with his black Labrador, Truffle.

Maggie Greenwood is a clarinetist and multiple woodwinds performer who evolved into an orchestral conductor and is a passionate supporter of public education and gender diversity in classical music. She loves building community through joyful music making and constantly strives to be better as a musician, educator, and human being than she was the day before. Maggie completed her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Clarinet Performance and Pedagogy from CU Boulder.

Corey Nance is an active musician and educator based in Denver, Colorado. He is currently the Principal Trombone of the Symphony of the Rockies and is pursuing a MM in trombone performance at the University of Colorado Boulder. As an educator, Nance has presented at the Big XII Trombone Conference and International Trombone Festival in 2023 while completing his BM in trombone performance from West Texas A&M University. Nance is a Brass Mentor for the Greater Boulder Youth Orchestra, Vice President of the International Trombone Association Student Council, and a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
